The following contains phone covers that some readers may find awesome, all are available and all are so cool they’re likely to have your phone stolen they’re that good

Mobile technology has come in leaps and bounds. There was a time you’d play snake and think it was the best game ever, but nowadays you can tweet, surf the internet, order films, listen to your favourite music, take photos and a whole heap more on them, and you can also personalise your phone too.

Iron Man

In the words of William Shatner – I, am, Iron Man! Now you can show off your cool mobile armour, alas this does not allow you to fly or shoot any bolts of electricity from your device, you need some apps for that to happen… but just you wait someone out there will.

Scream

Always taking your phone to murders, well now you can blame the imagery on your phone that made you do it, that or the new blood stains will blend in well with the already stab-esque cuts and spatters on the phone already. Just make sure you protect your screen.

Star Wars

Jabba the Hutt has nothing on you when you hold the carbonite version of Han in literally the palm of your hands. Even better, Princess Leia can’t do anything to save her man, as there’s no panel to reveal the Solo onto the world. He’s all yours… every inch of him!

The Dark Knight

They say phone cases reflect your personality, so if you suffer from split personality syndrome then this is the phone for you. On one day you can be the man to save the day, dress up in the mask and declare to the world in a gruff tone “I am Batman”, whereas on the other hand you can be crazy and watch the world burn.

Forrest Gump

It’s interesting to see you sat on a bench on your phone and reliving your memories of your life. Vietnam, eating tons of chocolates and knowing that you never know what you’re going to get, smelling of shrimp, whatever your life entails, the bench is the best place for it.

Wall-E

This lovable character is all alone, but if you look behind him he’s one of a massive fleet of Wall-E machines ready to clean and tidy and compact any bit of rubbish they can get their hands on, and make small little cubes with it all. Skyscraper rubbish cubes, as long as it’s not your phone in there.

Scarface

How graphically stunning is it to flip over your phone and see Al Pacino looking at you with those glaring eyes. What you lookin’ at? You don’t have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need a mobile case like this because then you can say: say hello to my little friend! Then shoot them!

What movie phone cover do you have?

When you’re a Hollywood actor, you get thrust into the world where every single script lands on your door, some paying a heck of a lot of money just to have your name on it. It’s a hard life, having to flip through pages and considering whether you want to do it or not. Some actors generally read what they want to do, others look at the figures, some just do it to put their kid through college. But mostly all actors have at least one bad apple.

James Franco recently admitted that his film Your Highness, a comedic film with Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel, unfortunately wasn’t up to the laughter a minute he was used to from Pineapple Express. “‘Your Highness’? That movie sucks,” he told GQ magazine, “You can’t get around that.”

Last year Hugo Weaving (the man who would be Agent Smith in Matrix amongst others) said that Transformers “It was one of the only things I’ve ever done where I had no knowledge of it, I didn’t care about it, I didn’t think about it. They wanted me to do it. In one way, I regret that bit. I don’t regret doing it, but I very rarely do something if it’s meaningless. It was meaningless to me, honestly.” Hugo didn’t even meet Michael Bay, except the odd Skype chat.

Michael Bay hit back (albeit deleting his comments) stating “Do you ever get sick of actors that make $15m a picture, or even $200,000 for voiceover work that took a brisk one hour and 43 minutes to complete, and then complain about their jobs? With all the problems facing our world today, do these grumbling thespians really think people reading the news actually care about trivial complaints that their job isn’t ‘artistic enough’ or ‘fulfilling enough’?” Handbags at dawn?

George Clooney advised that Batman and Robin was a “waste of money”. Mark Wahlberg commented on his film The Happening by “F***ing trees, man. The plants. F*** it.” David Cross even recalled his time on Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked on Conan’s talk show, by saying the experience was “the most miserable experience I’ve ever had in my professional life.” So not everyone loves the films they make.

But also think about it, Alec Guiness didn’t particularly like the Star Wars saga, writing a letter to a friend on the set of the first film: “Can’t say I’m enjoying the film. New rubbish dialogue reaches me every other day on wedges of pink paper – and none of it makes my character clear or even bearable. I just think, thankfully, of the lovely bread, which will help me to keep going until next April.”

Who knew….

Do you remember that guy who played Anakin Skywalker, the one that turned into Vader? The one that could travel all across the globe just by thinking about it? The one that appeared in Return of the Jedi even though he was just two years old when it was originally released? The one that was part of the ensemble in New York, I Love You? So… where is Darth Vader’s Hayden Christensen now?

Hayden was originally discovered at the age of seven when his older sister was shopping for an agent after she landed a role in a Pringles commercial. He coughed for camera in a Triaminic cough syrup ad, and decided to immerse himself in acting. His first acting role was Family Passions, which aired on Canadian television in September 1993. By 1995 he had a few television movies along with his first portrayal in a film John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness as a paperboy.

In 1999 he appeared in Virgin Suicides, based on the novel by Jeffrey Eugenides. In the film he played the role of Jake Conley, which he played opposite the cast of Josh Harnett, Kirsten Dunst and Danny DeVito among others.

Before he graduated, he was offered a part in Higher Ground, a Fox Family Channel series playing a sexually abused and drug-taking teenager Scott Barringer. Rather than continuing his studies to college, Hayden took the main part, something which made his father stop speaking to him for a few days.

He continued the drug taking role into his next film Life as a House (2001) playing opposite Kevin Klein as his son Sam Monroe. In the role he dyed his natural blond hair black and lost 20 pounds to play the Goth who opens the film stoned and wearing eye makeup, practicing autoerotic asphyxiation in a closet. The film shows the emotion of Sam learning of his father’s impending death through illness and the realisation of how important certain things are.

After this, his world was thrust into the saga of Star Wars playing the adult version of Darth Vader – Anakin Skywalker. After going through the audition process of over 1,500 people and passing the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio he played Anakin in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. During Episode III, Hayden asked George Lucas to appear as Darth Vader in the suit, and so one was constructed allowing him to increase his already large height to that of 6ft 6 inches to portray the final scenes of Vader. Both films earnt him the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor.

In 2004, Hayden appeared in the DVD release of Return of the Jedi, using stock footage of the actor, to replace that of actor Sebastian Shaw (who did the original Darth). Hayden stated that he was not made aware of it, something Lucasfilm agreed with.

After Star Wars, Hayden went to try to break away, replacing Jared Leto in the negatively reviewed film Awake (2007) about a man who is awake during a heart surgery, before jumping in Jumper, a film based on the sci-fi book by Steven Gould. The film set some probable ideas for sequels, along with teaming up with Billy Elliot himself Jamie Bell, however nothing actually came through. It was on the set that Hayden met Rachel Bilson, who he has been dating on and off.

Since then he made an appearance in a few films before Christensen sued USA Network over allegations that they stole his idea for the TV show Royal Pains. Albeit his first lawsuit in 2011 was rejected, his second in June 2012 at the Court of Appeals reversed the decision favouring in line with Hayden. Recently Hayden has teamed up with his older brother Tove to launch Glacier Films, with an impressive 11-picture slate to shoot over the next three years. One of their first films will be American Heist, a remake of a Steve McQueen movie which Hayden will star. So we’ll soon have him back, but in the spotlight, who knows?

Most television series once they end, they then continue on possibly (if popular) onto the big screen. Sex and the City, x-Files, Star Trek, but the reverse is also the case. Recently after The Avengers made way for Joss Whedon again in the saddle of holding onto the most biggest franchise ever in the Marvel world, there was a new development of a television series called Agents of SHIELD.

With Agent Coulson (who spoiler alert died in Avengers) appearing as a Level 7 classified agent, along with some others (and don’t forget can you spot how many Angel/Firefly/Buffy actors will appear in the series – 1 so far) the series has been green lit for a go this fall in America (with UK dates unknown).

Another movie has been revamped for the television market in the way of Sleepy Hollow. Gone is Johnny Depp and his gadgets and gizmo’s. Gone is the past and the headless horseman that is seemingly cameoed by Cowbell Christopher Walken, now Tom Mison walks up as Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp’s character in Tim Burton’s version) and is set in present day, along with Trek star John Cho, the series has its premiere on Fox later this year also.

Even Galaxy Quest producer Mark Johnson hinted that there’s a possibility of “doing a television show which would be sort of fun because it would be a TV show looking at a movie that’s looking at a TV show, something like that.” However don’t hold your breath. So although television will always translate to the bigger screen, it also allows the big screen to miniaturise itself to a smaller frame (think someday Star Wars: The TV Opera will appear on our screens – someday…)

In the world of technology, CGI and other whizzs on computers, it will be a world where you don’t need an actor to step into the role anymore, you can simply cobble it together and hopefully get what you need. That’s exactly what happened on Iron Man 3, when Robert Downey Jr. broke his ankle.

The actor was off work for six weeks, trouble is when a production on a film is that tight, six weeks it’s a lot of work, so what could they do? Chris Townsend, the VFX Supervisor for Iron Man 3 stated that “Together with face replacement and full body doubles, somewhere there was a solution to the problem of not having Robert Downey Jnr on set for the time”. And that’s exactly what they did, including having body doubles and then filming Robert doing the scenes for his face and grafting it on. The beach scene at the end – he wasn’t even there for.

Weta Digital allowed Robert to be inserted into the movie and nobody was the wiser. But Iron Man 3 isn’t the only film that’s done this. There are other films, one of which was very cutting edge for the time. Remember Jurassic Park?

In a scene of Jurassic Park, where the group are escaping the Raptors, a female stunt double does a stunt but looks directly at camera. Instead of reshooting the entire scene, they graft the original cast member of Ariana Richards (who played Lex) onto the footage and so, in the film you just see her look up at the camera and believe she did the stunt herself, oblivious that it was indeed someone else under the skin.

Most films they’re unrecognisable, you’ll never tell, or never want to know. There are some films you can. But did you notice Robert’s missing scenes?

Kickstarter of late has been known for projects like Veronica Mars, then also helping Zach Braff’s campaign for a sequel to his Garden State called Wish I Was Here, so it’s by no surprise that in 2011 a crazy idea for a statue actually happened and by no means successfully received full funding and 2,718 backers.

Although news of recent movies going on kickstarter, or even funny takes on celebrities commenting about kickstarter for Iron Man 4, back in March 2011 the idea came from a tweet that some person posted to the Mayor saying “Philadelphia has a statue of Rocky & Robocop would kick Rocky’s butt. He’s a GREAT ambassador for Detroit.” Wheels began to turn and Kickstarter raised $67,436 towards the project, allowing the man himself to be built.

Now recently, the image of the giant Robocop has been revealed, showing that no matter what you have in mind can be done with a little help from random people (over 2,000 to be exact). Even Peter Weller did a video on FunnyorDie just for the cause. So, when it’s erected, will you see the Robocop statue? Will it ever get up?

Never judge a book by its cover. Judge a film by its trailer thou!

“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” is the second in the film adaptations of the popular Percy Jackson novels by Rick Riordan. We pick up not too long after the first film left off; one of the most notable things I can say about the first film is that it had Sean Bean and he didn’t die. Let us be thankful for small favors. On with the trailer…

0:01 – 0:05: Appreciate the glory of the 20th Century Fox logo. Appreciate, I say!

0:06 – 0:12: “I learned that the gods of Olympus are real” and obviously have fixed up Hogwarts after Harry’s graduation.

0:13 – 0:18: “And sometimes they have children called half-bloods, who are pretty much like anyone else you’d meet”. Except for the powers. And the horns. And the multiple appendages, but yeah, other than that…

0:27: “We live in the only place that is safe for our kind.” That place looks suspiciously like the “Twilight” set. You kids don’t sparkle, do you?

0:31: Someone put the electric dome down around Springfield again.

0:34: “Go inside to the Oracle” and her collection of terrifying flammable props.

0:39: The reveal of the golden chest: somewhere Brad Pitt is screaming, “WHAT’S IN THE BOX!?”

0:40 – 0:50: We get the big bad’s brief back story and motivation. Were I him, I might be a bit ticked that my sons killed me and trapped me in a supposedly unbreakable prison.

0:51 – 0:55: They need the Golden Fleece… which looks like some grandmother’s couch now has a sizable hole in the upholstery.

0:56: And it’s in the Bermuda Triangle. Well, isn’t that special?

1:02: “Our quest calls for our finest hero…” A Katniss wannabe. Well, at least in basic costume, anyway.

1:14: “This is a bad idea.” “You don’t even know what I was going to say.” No, many sequel ideas are bad ideas; the satyr’s on the right track.

1:22: “This August” I feel like it needs a noun after it; yes, I know it’s a teaser, but still there’s not enough august presences in films these days.

1:24: The half-bloods start looking for any of the survivors from the “Twilight” films.

1:30: “The chariot of damnation!” What, an AMC Gremlin?

1:35 – 1:47: The Gray Sisters’ taxi ride seems like an odd mashup between the flight from the Forbidden Forest and the speeder bike chase on Endor with a bit of Ridley Scott “atmosphere” blowing around.

1:50: “20th Century Fox Presents” It’s never good presents; it’s more often like practical socks or a savings bond.

1:51 – 1:56: The ark of the covenant, our young antagonist from the first film, mayhem — yup, everything needed to build tension to match the music.

1:57: Hey, that’s Nathan Fillion looking sharp in a suit and handing out the four winds! And freaking out when our young heroes try to take a peek at them indoors. Keen.

2:06: Our hero (whose name graces the front of the film) shows off his CG command of his father’s element.

2:10: Nearly out of time now for the trailer — time to bust out the action. Fight scene, flipping taxi, giant metal bull with attachment that goes *whirr*, fire, and Bic sword. Yeah, I think we’re good for the…

2:18: Final dramatic danger scene. Right on cue — hey, it’s a water Sarlaac!

2:28: And there’s our title, in case you had forgotten. Release date nebulously in August.

— edgarwright (@edgarwright) May 9, 2013

We’re used to having one director (or in the case of some families, two or three) however on movies where the usual standard is one director, there have been known to have words of wisdom or shots directed by other formidable characters. One such being Edgar Wright who directed one of the 2,120 shots within the final finished feature. The image looks like the Klingon planet, but in editing who knows which one is specifically Edgar’s we’ll never probably find out.

Edgar isn’t the only director to come in on a project. With Sin City, directing duties went to the fantastic Robert Rodriguez (although he did allow Frank Miller the role as well, since he did in fact write the comics), however for part of it Quentin Tarantino actually played a hand as a guest director for one scene. This scene was Dwight and Jackie Boy in the front of the car, before they’re pulled over by a police officer.

Continuing on, Quentin then went from Sin City to do a Grindhouse movie. Combining two films (one by Quentin Tarantino and the other by Robert Rodriguez) and releasing them together (with fake trailers in between), flopped. It wasn’t until they were released individually on DVD that they at least got something back.

Steven Spielberg had tried to director for a Star Wars film from George Lucas, but alas George was having none of it. “I’ve asked him. He won’t let me do one,” said Spielberg. “I wanted to do one 15 years ago and he didn’t want me to do it. I understand why – Star Wars is George’s baby.” There were rumours he had allowed him in for Episode III but was never confirmed.

So when you’re watching a film, sometimes you might not realise but you might be looking at a Spielberg scene or Tarantino that you never knew had done it.
